The Aging Tsunami: A Blueprint for Transforming Aging in New York

The Associa
tion on Aging in NY joined NYS Coalition for Aging, Inc and Council of Senior Centers & Services in NYC for the Aging Tsunami: A Blueprint for Transforming Aging in New York, a Legislative Conference on Tuesday, February 2014 from 10:00 am- 1:00 pm at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY.

Attendees made appointments with their legislators in the afternoon. The  Association on
Aging in NY held a member meeting from 2:30-4:30 pm - click here for details (members only).

The joint conference launched an advocacy campaign to move 7,000 frail elders off waiting lists into services they need, expand support for family caregivers and bring elder abuse into the forefront.

The conference was designed to support the work of the aging groups, honor Association on Aging in NY Executive Director Laura Cameron for her advocacy work, as well as welcome the New York State Office for Aging new Director, nominated by Gov. Cuomo, Corinda Crossdale.

This groundbreaking collaborative event gave the Aging Network an opportunity to present a united front for aging services to Legislators and other decision-makers in Albany. The Legislative Conference is hosted by the Council of Senior Centers & Services of NYC and the NYS Coalition for the Aging (NYSCA) in conjunction with the Association on Aging in New York.
