Who We Are
Vertical Divider
The Association on Aging in New York represents New York State's 59 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), also known as the Offices for the Aging, (OFAs) throughout New York State. We provide advocacy, education, and other capacity-building opportunities to the AAAs. The 59 agencies are in turn largely responsible for designing, funding, and coordinating programs that maintain older New York State residents in their homes and postpone the need for more medically intensive and costly health care services and to avoid what's often referred to as "spending down" to Medicaid. The AAA services supplement the assistance provided by family supports and help keep New Yorkers from spending down their resources and going on Medicaid or being admitted to skilled nursing facilities.
